• It is imperative that I create a relationship and bond with each and every student. Getting to know my students interests, beliefs, culture and linguistic background will help me understand my students. This will also help me implement activities and to create lesson plans that are much more engaging and relatable for them.

• Allowing students to share their personal and family history can help create discussions where they will be able to respectfully learn about one another and grow together as a community. This will allow me to work with students and their families to share with the classroom more about their culture.

• Creating a community within the classroom will help them make connections and feel included. Having that sense of community will also help students by giving them another support system.

• Setting clear expectations about respecting one another and their cultures will help remind students how to behave in the classroom, so that students won't be or feel disrespected or harmed by what others say or do.
