Philosophy of Education
"Education breeds confidence. Confidence breeds hope. Hope breeds peace."
-Confucius
We typically only have our students for a year and in that time I firmly believe that our job is to kindle the fire that keeps our students yearning to learn. I do not believe that this will only happen with the use of textbooks but rather with the engaging and interactive experiences that we'll provide them with. Children naturally love to explore and question things, why not encourage that and make class an adventure?
Why I wanted to teach
I have always loved that children are so curious and excited to learn new things. So naturally, I wanted to learn more about children and the many ways in which they learn, think, adapt, and create. I want to be able to put to use the many skills, strategies and methods of teaching that I have learned and acquired to help my students learn.
Values and Beliefs
-
I want to create a classroom environment that helps students feel safe, confident, seen, and accepted. Giving my students the comfort and space they need will be crucial while they learn and explore.
-
Everyone has a voice, helping my students use that voice will help them learn how to communicate their wants, needs, questions, interests and beliefs.
-
Communicating with parents, guardians and families will help me get them involved in their students academic life. Their involvement will help their students feel a sense of pride in their growth and it will give them the support they need to succeed.
-
Empowering students by showing them how to properly, respectfully, and safely do things on their own will help students feel and become more independent.
-
Students should be challenged within their range to help encourage and promote the growth and development of their skills and abilities.
